I am going to preface this with
- I live in Seattle- it is always muddy
- I have two dogs that are 80-90lbs – they are always soggy and muddy
- I have a 6 year old. He likes puddles. By law mud is attracted to him.
- I have a husband who doesn’t understand take your shoe off if they are MUDDY!
- We go to the beach at least 3x a week. Sand will reproduce and if just one grain make its way into your house its everywhere. Even if you make all member strip and bag the clothes in the yard then hose them down outside them
Okay I have a mud problem.
Thank golly for hardwood floors and my grandmas “clean everything with vinegar” way.
I have given up my mop and bucket and can clean my floors in 15minutes – during the rainy season I am doing it a couple times a day.
For the shiniest and disinfected floor on the the block you need:
one spray bottle (I prefer the glass ones they are the only ones that seem to stand the test of time)
I buy them in bulk for all my cleaning, cooking and gardening mixtures
one microfiber cloth
I buy these in bulk, on reoccurring deliveries. If I didn’t I would have to buy a paper towel roll for everyday other month
rubbing alcohol
white vinegar
water
Essential oils (I like lemon and lemon grass)* optional
Take the spray bottle fill
1/3 rubbing alcohol
1/3 white vinegar
1/3 good ol’ H20
*add a few drops of lemon EO for that clean smell (and it deters ants in the summer)
Now lazy mom hack put the micro fiber on your foot, spray the mixture on the floor and rub. Tough areas might need another go.
